Roswell, GA, January 10th, 2021. Michael D. Litten, Founder, Foundation for Premature Infants was honored to award Rebeca Adriana Aguilar a scholarship to attend the first of its kind ground breaking Trauma-informed Professional Certificate Program. The program is a continuous journey of self-discovery and growth moving towards excellence. This assessment-based certificate program is grounded by eight attributes that reflect competencies required to become a trauma informed professional.
Rebeca had been a nurse for 10 years. After the birth of her premature daughter, Zyanya, she began her journey as a NICU nurse, which she has been doing for 4 years. She received a Master degree in neonatal care and is the academic coordinator of the diploma in neonatal nursing at the Women's Hospital of the Secretary of Health Mexico. With another colleague, they run the first program focused on containment and neonatal positioning.
Michael D. Litten commented he was "beyond thrilled, because this is the first time FPI has offered a scholarship to a nurse in Mexico. And, Rebeca's passion combined with the certificate program fits perfectly with our mission and core belief, which is as Dr. Seuss's iconic character, Horton, said so succinctly and eloquently: 'a person's a person, no matter how small.'"
Rebeca said, "I hope this is a stepping stone for a better network between both countries in neonatal care development, since I truly believe that our problems and deficits in health care can be solved with the most powerful weapon, education."
